Blender, Substance Painter - 2024
I designed the tortigator as an amphibian mixture between an alligator and tortoise. The model was sculpted, uv unwrapped, and retopologized in blender. The textures were created in substance painter. The whole process is illustrated below.
The renders above were taken after I finished sculpting the model. Next, I took the time to UV Unwrap and retopologize the tortigator.
Both the shell and body were treated as separate meshes.
Retopologizing the mesh ended up bringing the total face count from 32 million to 12 thousand.
Finally, I Baked new maps over the retopologized mesh using substance painter. I then also designed a custom albedo map in substance as well. Below is the final retopologized, textured result:
